2008 Vuelta de Mendoza
February 15-24
Race Report by Kirsten Robbins

After placing second in the Prologue, Sebastian Haedo of the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light won two consecutive field sprints to clinch the top spot on the podium in the first and second stages of the nine-day Vuelta de Mendoza.  In Stage 1, the Colavita/ Sutter Home squad set up a perfect lead out for the young sprinter and positioned the last lead-out man, Anibal Borrajo, for a 4th place finish as well.

While no breaks successfully made it to the finish line in Stage 2, Colavita/Sutter Home veteran Gustavo Artacho put forth a valiant effort in a lengthy breakaway.  Gustavo was caught with enough time for his legs to recover to start the full Colavita/Sutter Home lead-out train in a reprise of the  finale to the previous day’s stage victory.  Sebastian Haedo finished off the job, winning his second consecutive stage and pulling an additional four seconds ahead in the race lead.
