Luca Damiani of the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light sprinted into the top 10 in the 24th annual Chris Thater Memorial Criterium.  The team lined up its strong criterium squad, including Luca, Alejandro Acton, Hayden Godfrey, Gustavo Artacho and Davide Frattini to race one of the most highly contested events of the season and one of the last criteriums on the NRC calendar.
 
Two threatening breakaways unfolded during the 40-lap event but all escapees were reeled in with two laps to the finish. The Colavita/Sutter Home team lined up their train behind Toyota-United and Health Net but the front of the peloton slowed on the third to last corner causing the sprinters to scramble to regain a good position for the sprint. Luca Damiani placed 9th, followed by Davide Frattini in 12th, and Alejandro Acton in 13th.
