Luca Damiani, Tyler Wren, and Gustavo Artacho covered the attacks coming from the field to try to bridge to the break. The break was reduced to six and then further reduced to two in the final laps of the race. Coming to the line, Davide came around the last corner in second position and overtook his breakaway companion to claim the win. Read local coverage of Davide’s win here.

Freedom Tour Criterium (July 22, 2007, Stirling, NJ; 49 laps): Alejandro Acton completed Colavita/Sutter Home’s sweep of the New Jersey criteriums this weekend by winning the 49-lap Freedom Tour Criterium. With support from teammates Gustavo Artacho and Luca Damiani, Alejandro covered the winning move of the day just 10 laps into the 49-lap criterium. The decisive break involved five riders but was later reduced to two. Rather than sprint, Alejandro opted to attack his breakaway companion with five laps to go to take the solo win. The field came rushing to the finish line, where Luca took 2nd in the bunch sprint and 8th place, with the help of Gustavo who finished in the top third.
