Iona Wynter Parks
Iona Wynter Parks embodies the Olympic ideals. Born in London and raised in Jamaica, Iona first distinguished herself as a swimmer in the Caribbean nation famous for its runners and sprinters. She spent her university years in Canada where she competed as a varsity athlete in swimming and cross-country running while pursuing a degree in languages and linguistics.
Iona represented Jamaica in the triathlon at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Drawn to the team atmosphere of cycling, Iona committed to full-time racing in 2006. She went on to represent Jamaica in multiple World Cup events, World Championships, and major Tours. Riding with Team Colavita, Iona achieved numerous top 10 finishes and helped her teammates achieve countless victories and podium appearances. Iona was named director of Team Colavita in 2008 following her retirement from active racing. She went on to serve as Director of Spa and Education for Goldeneye, the resort where Ian Fleming created the legendary James Bond. Iona is married to Clay Parks and serves on the boards of the Jamaica Cycling Federation and the Caribbean Cycling Federation, which works closely with USA Cycling to develop the sport of cycling among Caribbean nations.
