The Colavita trip to Italy* will begin and end with time spent in historic Rome. Upon our morning arrival in Italy, we will take time to stretch our legs and visit the famous Colosseum, after which we will travel by bus down to the region of Molise, home of the Colavita family.

Our first destination will be along the Adriatic Ocean in the attractive beach town of Termoli, where we will spend three relaxing days. Termoli is well known for its views, sandy beaches and browsable shops nearby the old part of town which is walled and guarded by a castle . For children coming along, there will be plenty of outdoor fun and adventure exploring the walls of the castle in addition to enjoyment on the beach. During the days we will plan optional excursions including a visit to a local winery for an outdoor lunch and a taste of this region's finest wines, as well as a visit to the town of Larino for a walking tour of a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre and cathedral. For those wishing to experience the region by bicycle, there will be daily recreational rides hosted by members of the Colavita Bicycling Team .

Then traveling west, we will head into the town of Campobasso where the families from the Colavita Pasta and Olive Oil companies will welcome us. American and Italian bicycle racers will compete for the first time around the old part of the city and afterwards, our racers, families and guests will enjoy an Italian-style celebration with dinner and dancing in a popular spot in town. The next day will provide us with free time to stroll the old town of Campobasso and enjoy the history, gelato and fashionable shops before lunch. Later that day, we will head into the mountains where we will spend three days at the scenic ski resort town of Campitello Matese  . Choose between enjoying the outdoor trails, hikes and mountain bike rides, or opt for tours of the historical Roman Empire towns of Pietrabbondante, Altilia and the famous Marinelli bell foundry (Vatican bell foundry) in Agnone. On Sunday, the mountain will come alive for a second race venue when hundreds of Pro and Amateur bicycle riders complete their 83 mile road race for an exciting finish in front of our hotel. All guests are welcome to ride in the bike tour and enjoy the scenery at their own pace.

Our last day in Italy will be spent in Rome where we can choose to receive a guided tour of the Vatican museums including the Sistine Chapel or to shop and enjoy the sights on your own. The package includes round-trip airfare to Rome from JFK Airport in New York, inland transportation, hotels, guided tours, tips, museum fees and two meals a day.
